Esther might be the most famous female in the bible, being one of just two women with a book of the bible named after them (Fairchild 2019). Esther is famous not only for her beauty and position of power, but also for her bravery in a very difficult situation (Fairchild 2019). The story of Esther takes place in Ancient Persia, about 100 years after Babylonian captivity (Fairchild 2019). Esther was raised up by her cousin Mordecai after the death of her parents. Basically Esther becomes queen of Persia by winning the “Beauty Pageant” held by the King after he got rid of his previous wife (Fairchild 2019). At this time King Xerxes’s right hand man, Haman, began plotting a way to eliminate all the Jews out of his hatred for them and Mordecai (Fairchild 2019). Mordecai made this plan known to her and challenged her to go to the King and put a stop to the plan even though she could be killed (Fairchild 2019). Esther eventually drew up the courage to approach the King and revealed Haman’s plan to destroy her and her people, the King was outraged and hung Haman where he had planned to hang Mordecai (Fairchild 2019). Esther showed great bravery by approaching the King uninvited to save herself and her people. Her story goes to show that we must not fear our circumstances but have faith and hope in the Lord to deliver us from evil.

Esther boldly approaches the throne of King Xerxes to exposes the evil plot of Haman
